Two down, one to go

Well, it happened again. A few months ago Benjamin beat me in a 5K. This time it was Alexander. Not only did he beat me, he beat me soundly. My best time is around 28 minutes. Before Saturday, Alexander's best time was 30:22. That was with Chris or I running with him to pace him. Last week, at his "mile club" at school, Alexander ran along with his two best friends, who are extremely fast. It gave him the confidence to run on his own. He crossed the finish line WAY before me, with an amazing time of 26:38. WOW. Chopping 4 minutes off of your PR is no easy feat. He was third in his age group, and is slated to come in second in the Daytona Beach Grand Prix. Check it out at: http://www.daytonaareagrandprix.com/ Congratulations, Alexander!!!

Blue Spring

Last month our elementary school took a field trip to Blue Spring. Manatees come by the hundreds to Blue Spring when it is cold. We were there a few days after a cold snap, so there were still some manatees. We probably saw 20 or so. My kids were very excited. Despite living only 45 minutes from Blue Spring, most of them had never seen a manatee in the wild. Here are some pictures from our trip. I can't post the ones with kids, but there's also a picture of the three elementary teachers. It was a wonderful trip - beautiful day and well behaved kids. Quite a combination.
